A Question...

I'm thinking of shooting my film tomorrow...

but I've got a question... As I mentioned before, I wanna make it a black and white film.

Then, should I change the camcoder setting into a black and white or should I make it by a editing programme after shooting???

if my film was all of a black and white film I would not worry about it. because there are two or three shots will be colour so that its problem appears...

I reckon I should film it by colour one. then change it later. so, a black and white scene and colour scene would connect smoothly.

I have to ask Toula tomorrow. Can't wait...

Cloverfield!!

I watched Cloverfield yesterday. the film uses all of hand-held camera. I think the

hand-held camera makes the film like a real or documentary which was a smart choice!

however, when I watched it, I felt dizzy because of too much shaking. when I film my

chasing I'm thinking of using the hand-held camera. but I have to reduce the shaking

as much as possible... I don't want to make my audience dizzy!

This is the scene in Trainspotting!!!

here is the chasing scene (first 16 sec) I would like to imitate some.

Black and white, Red, and Blue

This time I want to talk about the scene which the main actor (Sam Water) reaches the Pyrmont Bridge. When He reaches the bridge, I want to show beautiful water of Darling Harbour. Actually, in my film there is no water in Darling Harbour. Then, why am I showing the beautiful water? This is because in the scene, Sam is exhausted and so thirsty so that he can see his illusion which is the beautiful water in darling harbour. At this moment, I want to make contrast between other black and white scenes and the beautiful water in order to make an impact! Furthermore, I will make the camcorder’s iris a bigger aperture so that it can have more light. So, the more light will make the scene DREAMLIKE. As it is a black and white film, I reckon the last scene (Sam’s dead body and blood), the beautiful water scene, and the other black and white scenes will be making a good impact.

Water – Blue – Hope
Blood – Red – Danger
Black and white colour – dried scenery – Water Conservation needed

Why black and white film?

Why I mention about a black and white film is that I read a book called Chanwook Park’s Montage which is a Korean book about a Korean film director ‘Park Chanwook’. This is because he is my favourite director. He says that he has loved the movies of Seijun Suzuki who is a Japanese film director. In one of his films, there are so many strong colours’ contrast like a yellow wall, white suit, red shoes, and blue clothes villain. Somehow, that made him a crazy and genius film director.

After I read that, I realised that I like a strong colour and image, then, why don’t I try to make some strong images. Also, my film will be less than 5 minutes. So, I need to use some strong images in order to make a longer impression.

Therefore, I’m thinking about my movie make a black and white film. This is because my last scene will be a main actor with full of bloody so that if I make that a black and white film and colour film for the last scene, I could emphasize the last scene with a contrast between black and white colour and red colour.

Quantum of solace!

Last week, I watched Quantum of Solace. That movie gave me some ideas for my film. I can remember two chasing scenes from the movie. First one is that the movie shows Bond chases someone and, at the same time, it shows some kind of a horse parade and full of audience. The movie shows the two scenes one by one (Bond chases and the parade by a short cut).

Furthermore, the second one is that Bond chases someone again and there is a opera scene. It shows the two scenes one by one like the first one by very short cuts. Also, the background music is the opera sound so that it makes more dramatic, I felt. Therefore, I’m considering putting some kind of classic music for my chasing scene. They are very contrast but they could be in harmony with each other.

In conclusion, this movie also put many shot cuts in order to make the scene dynamic and active like Trainspotting although the music are very different. So, I could convince that in order to making a good chasing scene, I should put many short cuts (shots) in a short time. But I need to think about the background music more.

Trainspotting!

I’ve got so many motives from this film’s first chasing scene. As I watched and

counted, the first scene consists of 12 shots which happen in 20 seconds! Although I

need to research more, I think if I want to make a dynamic and active scene I need

to put many short cuts (shots).

I made my story board...

I know you can't see properly. just come to me! I will show you clearly!

this is it!!!

when I laid on a bed one idea just passed throughout my head...

one guy is being chased... there is water restriction in the future... water

protectors... blood...

....rough version...

This film is about that a man, who lives in 2046, suffer from a restriction of using water.
Beginning October 27th, 2046. A man is being chased by strangers who wear a uniform (Water protectors). The man reaches at the edge and hesitates to jump down to the ground. Flash back. Body 30 minutes ago. The man takes a shower. There is a timer. It reaches at 5 minutes. Once it reaches. The bell rings. The man does not notice and keeps taking a shower because he is exhausted and also sings a song. 30 seconds later, police officers come into the house. The man eventually hears the bell and the noise. He puts on pants. He runs away through the back door. End Come back to the beginning. The man looks down to the bottom. There is full of water but that is illusion or his dream. He jumps on Pyrmont Bridge to the water with his smile. The water protectors look down from the Bridge. The man lies on the ground with no water but full of his blood. Text comes from BoF “Do you want to change the future?” Just do the 5 things! “You can make the future different”. Visit HYPERLINK "http://www.seed.com" www.seed.com It may seem a little pessimistic. However, the key theme is very optimistic which is that you can make a difference!
